(Added Aug 5/10) I picked out a medical alert system for my 88 year old mother-in-law. I read ALOT of reviews and talked to 2 different companies. I chose ADT Companion alert and am VERY happy I did. During the analysis, the worse story I heard of (NOT ADT) was that the system was not needed for 2 years, but when it was needed it did not work at all. The poor woman was helpless on the floor for over 24 hours. The ADT system has a light on the monitor that reminds you to TEST the system once a month. They they do not say it is just ok to test it... they encourage you to test it. She has had it now for about 8 months. The salesman, installation, and every person contacted has been friendly, helpful and patient (She has hit the button accidental a few times, and ADT is always gracious). But last week was the reason I had to write this review. Thank goodness.. nothing terrible. But there was a bad storm and power failure. The unit automatically tells you that it has no power and goes into battery mode. BUT.... after about 20 minutes... ADT called! We did NOT use the system or press any request button. They detected the power failure and took it upon themselves to call and to check if she was ok and if she needed any assistance. NOW THAT'S SERVICE we never expected. We are VERY happy with the product, the people and service. Jerry |
